Following the lead of many other asthma medications, QVAR will have a dose counter by the end of the year.
TEVA manufactures QVAR, which is indicated for patients 5 years and above. It is used for prevention of asthma symptoms. Several years ago, other manufacturers began to put a dose counter on its respiratory products, as patients without one would have no idea how many doses were left. There were cumbersome methods as taking the cannister out and putting in a bowl of water and seeing if it sinks or floats. But that was just not practical, and TEVA is following the lead of other companies who already have a dose counter on its products. Currently Advair, Symbicort, Asmanex, Pulmicort, Proair, Ventolin all use dose counters. Likely in the next few years, all manufacturers will have them on its asthma product inhalers.
