Allergic rhinitis is a disorder of the nose induced by allergen exposure.
It is estimated to affect more than 500 million people worldwide. Allergen avoidance can be difficult to implement, nasal filters have yet to prove their benefit. Some disadvantages are efficacy, impeded breathing and comfort. A recent study in Denmark assessed their efficacy, safety and usability.
On the basis of their small, limited study, it appeared useful in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis, although the authors felt longer studies were needed with a larger population size.
So at this point, no conclusions can be made.
